In
July 1999 eighteen high school students from the ACS Cobham International
School
travelled to Namibia on a World Challenge Expedition. The "ACS
Challengers" spent 20 months planning, organizing, and raising funds
for their expedition and community service project at a rural village
school
in northern Namibia.
This Web site offers a detailed overview of the Namibia '99 project. We invite you to share the adventure and discover how this group of committed high school kids met their world challenge!
There were two main reasons for the ACS World Challenge Expeditiion to Namibia:
- To develop the personal skills of the students going on the expedition, with a particular focus on leadership, responsibility and teamwork.
- To carry out a community service project in a developing country.
