Art
ACS
students work in a wide range of 2D and 3D media, including painting,
drawing, collage, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, mixed-media
3D work, and computer graphics. There is an emphasis in student
artwork on individuality and creativity in response to research
as well as in response to spontaneous art activity.
- Lower School offers an engaging, challenging
and active experience of the creative process. Classes
are designed to encourage students to explore the world around
them through the creation, and appreciation of art.
- Middle School builds on this ‘aesthetic
enthusiasm’ teaching the processes and techniques to further
refine skills using a more complex range of art media and concepts.
- High School students will be able to demonstrate
a variety of modes of analytical and perceptive thinking and
independently create a high calibre of imaginative and creative
studio work. The programme ensures a smooth transition for students
who wish to pursue studies to exam level on International Baccalaureate
and Advanced Placement Art courses offered by the schools.
Music
Students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade are involved
in music, from general music classes including individual tutorials,
to Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses
in the High School. The ACS ethos actively encourages creativity
and artistic expression at every level, and students are encouraged
to embrace the opportunity to belong to one of our many vocal
and ensemble groups including:

Our most accomplished musicians travel to Europe each year to participate in the prestigious Association of Music for International Schools (AMIS) competitions.
Drama
Drama is integral part of our creative offering at ACS, and is
integrated into the teaching schedules across all our divisions
and includes:
- Pre-K and Kindergarten festive shows and mini-plays
- Lower School drama groups and shows
- Middle School musicals
- High School musicals and dramatic productions
High School students create 2 major productions a year, with
participation extending beyond the performers to hair & make-up,
wardrobe, technical crews, and prop/set creation. Our most gifted
students have the opportunity to be selected for International
Schools Theatre Association (ISTA) workshops held in Europe each
year. There are also opportunities to undertake IB drama workshops,
and to test improv skills at the international Destination Imagination
competitions.
