Where We Live

  * Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield
  * London
  * Northwood/Rickmansworth Area
  * Other Areas

ACS families live in a variety of places surrounding the school. You will have opportunities to get to know these areas while transporting your children to play with their classmates. We have attempted to gather information from most areas where families reside to give you access to instant resources when you first arrive in England. If you are unsure of your own location or need help with anything, please call a Transition Assistance Network volunteer with children close in age to your own children. Alternatively, you can call a volunteer who lives closest to you or one who lives in an area that you would like to know better. You can recognize places that are near to you by the area code at the beginning of the phone number.

Northwood/Rickmansworth Area

NORTHWOOD is a popular area to live, and not far from ACS, Heathrow Airport, and London. Several families also live in nearby communities such as PINNER, RUISLIP, ICKENHAM, HARROW, and closer to the school in HILLINGDON and UXBRIDGE. RICKMANSWORTH and CHORLEYWOOD are also ideal for those who need to commute by train. These places are within a 20-minute drive to the school. The phone area codes for these areas may be 01923, 020, or 01895..

Other Areas

Housing is sometimes more difficult to find and then one must search for housing that is a bit further away from the school in communities such as MAIDENHEAD, COOKHAM, DATCHET, WINDSOR, and BOURNE END. Phone codes here begin with 01628. We also have had some students who come from the SURREY area. We have all found that we sometimes have to drive a bit further than we did at home to find the resources that we are looking for. The larger centres of HIGH WYCOMBE, WATFORD, and SLOUGH will be mentioned also, as our shopping needs arise.

Although it may seem difficult at first to travel to many of these areas, you will find that many of the places mentioned in this guide will become as familiar to you as the ones you are used to at home.
