Post Office
In addition to posting mail, buying stamps, etc. you can accomplish other tasks at the post office.
- Apply for TV license.
- Find forms to apply for UK driver's license
- Renew your tax disc every six months or yearly.
- Pay monthly bills (details are on utility bills).
- Exchange GB pounds for US dollars
- Find brochures explaining various NHS benefits and programs. Look for booklet "FB2 WHICH BENEFIT?".

Child Benefit
Some parents are entitled to collect child benefit for each child to the age of sixteen, eighteen if they are still in school full-time at pre-college level. Legislation was recently passed that eliminated many of us from collecting, but some of us are exempt due to our nationality. This may allow those from Commonwealth Countries to still benefit. There are forms to fill out but they are well worth doing. They will pay you for up to six months before the date your claim was received so you do not have to rush. You are not assessed by income or by whether you work outside the home or not. If you pay tax in Britain you may be entitled. Check with tax advisors before applying.
