Dear newcomer,
Welcome to the Cobham area!
For you as a new family at our school, everything right now probably feels quite challenging. We know, because as ACS parents we have all been in your position!
We are here to help you settle and as a part of that, the ACS Welcome Team has put together some important information that you will need straight away and some useful information, which is nice to have as a reference. The mentioned businesses and organizations have been helpful to ACS parents and the list is meant as guidance to what is available and what you can expect. However, neither ACS nor the PTO can be held liable for any changes or the quality of goods and services provided by these businesses.
Upon your arrival it is very important that you fill in all of the school papers. The emergency contact sheet is vital! Find your closest hospital with an A&E (Accident and Emergency/Emergency Room) and also register with a GP (General Practitioner/doctor) at your local surgery or health clinic. You will need to purchase a detailed street map (Surrey A-Z or Street Atlas), available as a spiral booklet or fold-out map. You might also need the Highway Code, which explains the traffic regulations. We would like to remind you that the school magazine “ACS Cobham Connection” is your “guide book” to everything that goes on at school (pick info from the Lower, Middle and/or High School section as you need it), and you will also find ads for everything from babysitters to airport cars.
If English is not your mother tongue and you want to speak to someone in your own language, please find the list of our International Representatives in the “ACS Cobham Connection” or call the school.
In the back of this booklet you will find pages with everything from size charts to useful telephone numbers.
We hope you find this booklet useful. If you have comments or suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact any of the Welcome Team members (members are listed in the ACS Cobham Connection and on the ACS website).
We also hope this information will make your transition a bit easier and that your time here at ACS Cobham will be pleasant, interesting, fun-filled and exciting!
The Welcome Team 2007/2008
