9.1 Leisure Centres

A leisure center is a sports/fitness center. Popular activities that are typical of a leisure center might include swimming (recreational and fitness), badminton, trampolining, ice-skating, squash, bowling, and basketball.  Most leisure centers have fitness suites, cafes and childcare. Some centers even offer birthday party facilities for children. Since not all leisure centers are alike, you should check your local listings for the leisure center nearest you or go to www.yell.com and search for leisure centers in Surrey – there are around 45.

9.3 IYS (International Youth Sports)

IYS is a volunteer organization well appreciated and supported by the ACS community. It is run by parents for the benefit of the children in the area and not just those enrolled at ACS. Courses are offered to kids from Pre-K through eighth grade. IYS offers the opportunity to play three different sports in the course of a school year. In fall (Sept-Dec) they will play soccer, in winter (Jan-April) basketball and in spring (April-June) baseball. Each season will last for 10 sessions and registration fees for each sport cover the cost of full uniform and playing equipment. Parent volunteers fill important roles such as coaches, team parents and equipment set-up and take-down.
