Opening hours for most shops, supermarkets and shopping centers are from 9 am – 17.30 pm from Monday to Saturday. Some of the big supermarkets are open late or even 24 hours during the week. Shopping centers/malls are usually open until 8 pm on Thursdays and from 10 or 11 am – 4 pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

Several large London department stores such as Fortnum & Mason, Harrods or even Partridges in Kensington and Chelsea, carry a wide selection of American food products. Most grocers and supermarkets in Surrey sell some American foods. The following carry a variety of the most popular American products of which only a few can be listed:

Pricey, but probably your best bet if you are looking for candy bars, pretzels, Goldfish, Gatorade, maple syrup, grape jelly, cocktail sauce, plain Cheerios, pickles, cookies, Jell-O puddings, Swiss Miss hot chocolate, apple sauce etc.
Garson Farm: Winterdown Road, Esher (01372 464389). Carries a variety of products in their farm store, e.g. Betty Crocker cake mixes and frostings, pancake mix, Bisquick, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, Stove Top stuffing mix, Crisco, Mac & Cheese, Graham Crackers, and Goldfish.
Costco Warehouse: 3 locations in greater London. Store locations can be found at

The warehouses here carry Skippy peanut butter, frozen waffles, Oreos, and Guirardelli brownie and cookie mixes. Please note that stock does change. Sweden: Most of the supermarkets have crisp bread, kjöttbullar (meat balls) etc. Ikea (Croydon, Redding etc) has a small food shop, where everything from Kalle’s kaviar to pepperkaker (ginger bread) can be found. In High Street, Barnes, they sell Swedish cheese.
Norway: Safeway/Morrisons and Sainsbury’s sell sliced Jarlsberg cheese and all major supermarkets sell whole Jarlsberg. The Norwegian Church in London sells food and sweets.
Denmark: Major supermarkets sell crispy onions and ice cream cones.
Finland: The Finnish church sells food and sweets.

Miura-ya in Norbiton near Kingston has Japanese food.

A great way to find you nearest farm shop, is to log on to www.yell.com and do a search for “farm shops” in Surrey.
Garson Farm in West End, Esher. Pick your own fruits and veggies from May till October! Even the little ones enjoy running up and down the rows, while the rest of the family selects strawberries, peas, apples, asparagus, beans or other produce to take home. The farm shop is open all year, even on Sundays.
Farmers’ markets. These you will find regularly in most villages. See local newspapers/sign posts for days/times or look up www.surreyonline.info or www.surreyfoodlinks.co.uk and do a search for farmers’ market.
6.4 Bakeries
Independent bakeries are found in every village, and the larger supermarkets have in store bakeries.
Maison Blanc: Cobham (High Street). French bakery; bread, pastries and cakes.
Watson's Bakery: Cobham (Hollyhedge), East Horsley (Station Road), Fetcham (Cobham Road).
Lee's Bakery: Walton-on-Thames (Hersham Road), Weybridge (On Parade), Byfleet (Station Approach).
Patisserie: Cobham (Station Road). You can get soft pretzels and pizza dough - must order dough in advance.
Delice de France: Kingston (Fife Road), Woking (Church Path). French cafe, baguettes and pastries.
6.5 Shopping centres
Bentall Centre in Kingston (Wood Street) www.thebentallcentre-shopping.com is the biggest shopping centre in the area featuring a Disney store, GAP baby/GAP kids, Fun Learning and many more including the Bentall department store. John Lewis department store is right next to the centre.
Peacock Centre in Woking; is smaller and features Debenham’s Department Store, TK Maxx and Toys R Us.
Wolsey Place in Woking, next to the Peacock Centre. Features WH Smith, Boots, Sainsburys, Dixons (electrical).
Ashley Centre in Epsom. Has a Laura Ashley shop, H&M for adults.
Centre Court Shopping in Wimbledon has an H&M for adults/kids.
Brooklands Centre in Weybridge is not a mall in the true sense but comprises Marks & Spencer and Tesco. Just behind it you will find Curry’s which sells electrical goods and Argos (catalogue shopping) and Mothercare. There is a cafeteria between Marks & Spencer and Tesco.

Lakeside, West Thurrock, off M25 (junction/exit 30 and 31) after Dartford Tunnel. Here you will find Ikea, Costco, B&Q, Comet, Toys R Us, Matalan, TK Maxx etc.

Most of the large shopping centers or malls have at least one “anchor store”.
