The adolescents of Middle School are embarking on a lifelong
task of establishing personal identity and acquiring social skills.
Academically, they are developing higher level thinking and reasoning
skills, while, socially, peer group approval gains importance
as they begin to develop their own values and make their own decisions.
We offer our students a well-balanced programme that promotes
physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, as well as exposure
to the arts, and a stimulating academic environment. Although
our programme is challenging, we provide support to those who
require it, ensuring that everybody has the potential to be successful.
In addition to academic achievement, we strive to provide experiences
that contribute to the physical, social, and emotional development
of all our students. We offer a broad range of after-school clubs
and intramurals, a musical in the Winter, as well as regular evening
social functions. Once in 6th Grade students are eligible to try
out for one of our sports teams which regularly compete against
other international schools at cross-country running, volleyball,
basketball, swimming, track & field, soccer, tennis, baseball,
and softball.
Our close proximity to central London has helped create an extensive
field trip programme, which is complemented by numerous visits
from performers and artists to the campus. Students also have
frequent opportunities to learn from primary sources on extended
overnight trips to historic or scientific sites around the UK.
Our curriculum provides:
- strong core academics in math, social studies, language arts,
science, and foreign languages
- math and foreign language courses
which may be eligible for High School graduation credits
- breadth, diversity and exposure to art, music, drama, health
and physical education
- challenging coursework which is collaborative, meaningful
and active
- pastoral programmes focusing on socialisation and peer pressure,
issues of identity, and making good decisions
- standardised testing of reading, writing and math which gives
diagnostic information on student progress, and an ongoing evaluation
of the school’s academic programme.
