The Catering Department at the ACS Cobham International School
is operated in-house, meaning that we employ and train our own
chefs. We take great pride in providing creative fresh food which
is appealing to our multi cultural student base as well as being
nutritionally sound. Here at ACS we work firmly to a fresh food
policy which ensures that wherever possible fresh ingredients
are used, making the most of seasonal produce. To do this, menus
are revised three times each year. Menus run in four weekly cycles
and are advertised in the Cobham Connection as well as school
offices.
All our menus are based on the Government’s ‘Balance
of Good Health’ in conjunction with the British Nutrition
Foundation.
Lower School
Lower school students are encouraged to make a nutritionally
balanced choice at lunch time. The options include a hot main
meal with a vegetarian choice, baked jacket potato with a choice
of hot and cold fillings or freshly made sandwiches or bagels.
Students are also encouraged to make a selection from our salad
bar which includes freshly sliced apples, oranges, watermelon
etc along with a selection of salad items such as cucumber, carrot
sticks, tomato and lettuce plus a selection of salad dressings.
Dessert changes daily but fruit yoghurts and cheese and biscuits
are always available. Chilled milk and water are readily available
for all students.
Payment for Lower School students is made very simple. Each student
has a catering account which is activated when a cheque is sent
into school. Each time a student takes a school lunch the set
lunch cost is deducted from their account via a bar code system.
The student does not need to carry a lunch card or token, their
teacher simply ticks their name and the bar code relating to the
name is scanned thereby debiting their account.
Middle and High School
Middle and High School students can take advantage of our terrific
food court complex. The food court encompasses a range of food
styles.
The Deli Bar serves a wide variety of freshly
made sandwiches, bagels and wraps, baked jacket potatoes with
a selection of hot and cold fillings, homemade soup bar, warm
pretzels or a home made dessert.
The Chefs Theatre has a selection of hot main
meals, vegetarian options, fresh vegetables and hot grilled panini.
The Chilled Salad Bar offers a wide selection
of fresh salads and a Cold Dessert Bar offers
a range of fresh fruit, fresh fruit bags, yoghurts, brownies and
cookies. In the warmer months we offer a take away freshly made 'salad pot'.
The Drinks Zone serves a selection of fruit
juices, bottled water and chilled milkshakes.
Payment for Middle and High School students is made via a swipe
card system. Each student is issued with their own individual
swipe card which is activated when a cheque is sent into school.
When a student has made their lunch choice, they go to a till
point where their card will be swiped to the value of their lunch.
The card balance is shown on the display at the tills so students
can keep a track of their balance.
Breakfast and Break Time
The food court is also open from 07:45 til 08:30 for breakfast
and 10:00 til 10:30 for break time. A wide selection of breakfast
and snack time goods is available from hot chocolate topped with
mini marshmallows, waffles, fruit, biscuit bars, bottled water,
yoghurts, bagels and sandwiches. Students pay for individual items
using their swipe card.
We hope you will enjoy your dining experience at ACS Cobham!
