ACS Track Squad Entering the field

The Hillingdon athletics team recently concluded their season with several strong performances at the ISST championships in Eton on May 29th and 30th. Twelve international schools attended the meet and brought only their best athletes for competition. Despite being the smallest school in attendance nine different Hillingdon athletes made the final round or final heat in their field and running events placing them in the top eight of all ISST competitors. In the varsity boys division Sam Vela placed 6th in the shot put (11.08 meters) and 5th in the discus throw (30.67 meters) while Joost Bedot placed 8th in the shot put (10.24 meters). Erika Pennycuick led the varsity girls team placing 7th in both the shot put (7.34 meters) and the discus (17.86 meters).  The boys JV team was led be the dynamic duo of Tzu-Yang Bekooy and Chris Cobham. Both runners made their finals in two events and ran exceptional legs on the 4X100 and 4X400 relay teams. Tzu-Yang placed 4th in the 100 meters (12.50 seconds), 6th in the 200 meters (25.44 seconds), and nearly missed scoring in the long jump where he placed 9th overall.

Chris Cobham placed 3rd in the 200 meters (25.05 seconds) and 1st in the 400 meters. Chris was the only JV runner to break 54 seconds as he broke his own school record in the event with a time of 53.85 seconds. The girls JV team was led by Kim Phillips-Page who placed 6th in the 100 meters (14.11 seconds) and 8th in the high jump (1.30 meters). Kim also anchored the 4X100 relay team that barely missed qualifying for the final round. Other strong performances by JV girls included: Heleana Zaayman 8th in the discus (18.42 meters), Darien Hesse 5th in the shot put (7.62 meters) and Claire Hadfield 6th in the 3000 meters with and impressive time of 12:46. Well done athletes !
