On March 14th, Hillingdon’s High School Big Band went on ‘tour’ to Egham and Cobham and performed to students in the Lower School. What wonderful audiences they were! The Band presented an outstanding Concert, performing such greats as Sesame Street, The Muppets, Sing, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, It’s a Small World, The Incredibles, Flip Flop Fly (the theme to Chicken Run) and Cruella da Vil. Two of the highlights were when Inspector Gadget and Spiderman made an appearance, much to the delight of the students.

The Band also demonstrated their instruments and showed the different sounds they produced. Adam Black performed his original composition “The Alphabet Song” which was a real hit. It was a great experience seeing the children sing, dance and interact with the Band.

Our Grade 12 Rock Band also made an appearance at Egham. Our students performed and had a chance to listen to the Egham Jazz Messengers. It was a great opportunity to join with our fellow musicians and we wish to thank Mr Cook for organising pizzas for us.

It really was an excellent day and now the Band has a taste for the touring life, we look forward to our trip to Germany in early June, where we join with the choir to entertain audiences in the Rhineland.
