Justin Quinnell - Pinhole Photographer Workshop
Justin Quinnell is a renowned artist, photographer and author who has over the past 15 years experimented and perfected the art of pinhole photography. His website 'Pinhole Photography' shows many examples of his wonderful and versatile photographs. He runs a variety of workshops in colleges, universities and schools and was seen, by myself, recently on the One show, and so the idea for this workshop to take place was born.
As Justin says, his courses are nothing more than opening students eyes to a ' world of wonder'. Where today's world of digital phones, cameras and other devices are amazing in one way they do not allow for the chaos and unpredictability of simple but ancient technologies such as the use of a pinhole to create an image or piece of artwork.

The workshop was used to introduce the students to their final Grade 10 Design and Technology which is looking at how many technologies become obsolescent so quickly when they could still be an important part of the world and can also work well in combination with many other more modern technologies. The project will form the backdrop to looking at the Area of Impact, within the MYP, known as Human Ingenuity and what it means to us.
