On the 30th of August 2007, the Grade 6 class went to Sayer’s Croft to learn about team building. We were split into four house groups: Tudor, Windsor, Stuart and Hanover. Throughout the day, I met new friends in different classes and enjoyed the day.
I found the team challenge of building a shelter was the most interesting part of the day. In my group we had to build a shelter together to keep the bears, rain and wind from coming in. We all worked really well together in our group and listened to each other’s ideas. When the bear (Mr. Jones), the wind (Ms. Rasmussen) and the rain (Mr. Zettler) came, we all got very wet!
I found the rock climbing very challenging, as I don’t really like heights. The whole experience was fantastic and I learned many things such as:
- There is no I in team!
- Teamwork helps a lot
- Try new things (like rock climbing) even in scared –be a risk taker!
- Make new friends and be helpful
- Everything isn’t as easy as it looks!
I would recommend this trip again, and I can’t wait to go next year!
