The Flavours of Diversity

Who knew that cookies were a indigenous food from every country? On February 6th 2010 students gathered in the old gym to share music and food of their homelands. Twenty-four countries were represented at this International Day. The walls were adorned with flags and maps while the tables were piled with endless amounts of food. Tasty snacks never cease to motivate ACS high school students to participate in a school event!

There were definitely some standout booths tables that were testament to the pride everyone feels for their home nation. The Norwegian table was blasting electro-pop band, Datarock, while Japanese freshmen ran around in masks and kimonos serving edamame. The U.S. table was proudly flying two massive star spangled banners and the Australian’s brought in some inflatable crocodiles. Arguably topping everyone, the Japanese brought in endless amounts of scrumptious delicacies and raised a whopping £250.33. Overall, everyone put in a good effort to raise £1371.30 for charity. What organization the money will go to is undecided at the moment, but it will most likely go towards Haiti in the wake of its devastating disaster. Everyone was proud to show their unique heritage; however, nearly every table had a plate of chocolate chip cookies! Does anyone know what country they actually originate from?
