David Lynch Represents ACS on National Stage

Patrick Lynch, 11th Grade Journalism student

swimmmer

For the past eleven years David Lynch has swam every day of his life, dedicating enormous amounts of his time and effort, striving to become the best swimmer he can be. Currently a junior at ACS Cobham, David is used to waking up before the sun rises and plunging into the cold water at ghastly hours of the morning, obeying the commands of his coach, and giving his all to be the best.

Luckily for him, all of his hard work and extra hours in the pool have produced dividends for David and his swimming career. Significantly, David currently possesses an outstanding total of six races ranked in the top thirty fastest times in all of Great Britain for his birth year of 1989, including a 6th place ranking in the 400 meter individual medley and a 13th and 19th place ranking in the 200 meter individual medley and backstroke. David’s personal best times continue to improve with passing competition, moving him higher and higher up the rankings.

Ever since David has moved to England, almost four years ago, he has competed on the national level, swimming in the Great Britain’s ASA National Championships and Youth Championships. This meet, one that is sought after by every British swimmer, invokes the country’s top swimmers, including Olympians and world record holders. In last years annual meet, in which David achieved six national qualifying standards,he was fortunate enough to partake once again in such a prestigious competition. David swam well and reached the finals in his 400 meter individual medley and placed 8th, a noteworthy achievement considering the talents of the other competitors and the fact that he was competing against older simmers.  This year, David has already qualified in two races for this summer’s meet and looks forward to obtaining even more.

David also competes for ACS Cobham’s school team and is currently the Boys Team captain. In addition to breaking numerous Junior Varsity and Varsity ISST and school records, David has also compiled an impressive amount of 15 ISST medals for swimming over three years.

In the future, David hopes to continue his swimming in a division one University in the United States. We wish him all the best in his future competitions and congratulate him on his accomplishments to date.
