The Varsity Girls Soccer Team, although plagued with several key injuries throughout the season, enjoyed a successful season on the pitch. Led by Coach Webster, coaching in his 16th year at ACS, the team of 18 players finished the year with five wins, seven losses, and two draws. However, injuries made it difficult season, severely hampering the team’s preparation.
Notably, Captain Alley Battalia, led her team valiantly throughout the season, playing through injuries and setting a high standard for her team-mates to emulate. This powerful play was demonstrated by the centre defender’s exceptional ISST’s, which was held at ASL. At the competition the Cougar’s finished 7th, finishing with one win, two losses and two draws. Additionally, Vice-Captain Kaitlyn Geslak received All Tournament honours.
Coach Webster is very much looking forward to next year’s season, as all but four of his players will be returning to the squad. This continuity appears promising for next year’s squad, extending the Cougar’s quest for gold.
