Have you ever travelled around the world in an hour? That is exactly what ACS Cobham students experienced at last months International Night. Held in the cafeteria, students of all ages were treated to a delectable display of dishes, embarking on a culinary journey around the globe.
To begin the appetizing adventure, the countries of Europe bombarded the participants. Germany enticed students with offers of black forest cake, while the Swiss tempted with plates of rich chocolate. The French dishes were equally alluring, as aspiring Francophiles combined to create a plethora of pastries. As the gastronomic voyage continued, Scandinavia beckoned. Norway offered waffles, Sweden championed cookies and Denmark appealed with traditional hot dogs. By this stage, most students were thoroughly gorged, yet a determined few explored further.
Some may have been morally coerced by the chance to give money to charity, but a larger number seemed attracted by the delights of the East. Japan was exceptionally popular as sushi proved a favourite. Debutants Lebanon were equally impressive, dazzling student and parents alike with platters of eastern cuisine.
Staggering onwards, participants approached the final bend, travelling to Oceania. Australia charmed, offering refreshing cordial and traditional shrimp. Finally finishing such a trip, students enjoyed the atmosphere of the evening, mingling in the multiculturalism of the affair. Overall, participants enjoyed a spectacular evening, appreciating the chance to support charity and to sample the world’s finest.
