Broadway show hits the right chord

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! The premiere of this year’s musical, Aladdin has come and gone, and everyone who saw it spent the rest of the day singing ‘A Whole New World’ and remembering how wonderful the play turned out to be.

The story was equivalent to the Disney version that we all know and love. Aladdin was played by the wonderfully talented Ethan Maccoby who depicted a street boy who saves the beautiful but disguised princess Jasmine, played by Torie Flanagan, from her father and show’s her what its like in his world. Although they spend hours together, Aladdin does not realize that Jasmine is the daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah who is played by Josh Miller.

This plot unfolds into a comedic love story between Aladdin, Jasmine and their conflicting status in society. Alex Reustle and Max Downman played other important roles such as Jafar, the Sultan’s evil servant and Iago, Jafar’s parrot respectively. Of course, we cannot forget the hilarious part of the Magical Genie that was portrayed perfectly by Chris Russell.

All of the Tech crew and other actors involved in the play worked very hard to make this show ACS’s best performance yet! Rehearsals, which started all the way back in September, have consisted of staying after school for long hours almost every day. Actors and tech crew went to extremes for such a successful play coming to school during the weekend to rehearse all those weeks before opening performance. Thank you to everyone who was involved in the play for trying so hard to make it Broadway standard for the audience.
