The smell of doughnuts and achievement filled the Marble Hall last week as a host of distinguished speakers arrived for Career Day’s presentation. Reading like a ‘Who’s Who’ of successful employees, this qualified group gathered specifically to give ACS students a taste of the future. This collection included noted journalists, renowned businessmen, performers and even a Chocolatier. Needless to say, these speakers were heeded intently, as students seemed to revel in the wealth of experience available. Students were treated to 3 sessions, each 40 minutes long. In these speeches, guests spoke of their career path, comparing various jobs and outlining the benefits of their line of work. Students were given the chance to ask questions and delve deeper into their interests. After the lectures, students were granted an open forum, where many continued to tap the speaker’s vast knowledge. The day was an unheralded success. Speakers left satisfied while students left enlightened. David Lynch summed up the mood, noting, ‘Career day was a fantastic opportunity to further explore my aspirations’. The organizers must be smiling: Job done.
