Had I just entered Wonderland, or had I just entered the ACS Cobham cafeteria? Greeted with sumptuous smells of food representing the many nations of our muti-cultural community, it could only be International Night, and time to travel around the culinary world as prepared by our many 'global' parents.
There was every imaginable type of food from every culture... and all for the taking. I immediately ordered a croissant from the French stall and joined my friends. It was sensory overload, (by the way the croissant was delicious) with a mad rush for Sushi at the Japanese stall, a long line for traditional American brownies, and all the stalls were fantastic.
Congrats are in order to the organisers for putting together such a great range of food and I am sorry that I cannot mention all of you, but the list would run for pages.
On a more serious note, the main driver for this event was to raise money for a well-known charity called Lepra whose main mission is to restore health, hope and dignity to people affected by leprosy and other diseases of poverty. This specific statement struck a chord with me, and allowed me to see that this event wasn't just about food, it was really about giving hope to people less fortunate, which in the end is much more satisfying.
