  ACS Hillingdon Philosophy

Our academic programme provides a developmental approach to teaching that takes into account the learning styles of each individual student. Our goal is to encourage critical thinkers, responsible global citizens, and students who are prepared to achieve the highest standards, both in their subsequent education and throughout their careers.

Since its foundation in 1978, ACS Hillingdon has endeavoured to provide a quality education for international families in the London area. The curriculum is based largely on the American model, with programmes to complement the particular needs of our international students.

Our philosophy is to:

  • prepare young people to take their places in an ever-changing world
  • set a challenging, yet achievable academic standard
  • provide a well-rounded educational programme
  • meet the developmental needs of our students
  • provide support which eases transitions to and from other schools
  • facilitate a sense of community.

In accordance with this philosophy, the school is committed to the following objectives:

  • encourage a positive attitude toward education and lifelong learning
  • provide meaningful educational experiences that enable students
to acquire and apply knowledge, concepts, and skills
  • help each student fulfil his/her academic, creative, and physical potential
  • present students with opportunities which develop their social and emotional awareness and build their self-esteem
  • foster an atmosphere of empathy through a dedicated and caring faculty and staff
  • reinforce ethical and moral values by emphasising personal responsibility
  • provide a wide range of extracurricular activities• offer quality educational resources and opportunities to promote the development of students, faculty, and staff
  • take advantage of the opportunities for enrichment available within the host culture
  • provide opportunities for students to understand, appreciate, and develop sensitivity for other cultures
  • encourage participation in community service and support of local and international charities
  • promote a partnership with parents
to meet the needs of students
  • offer programmes that address issues associated with a highly mobile population.
