Charlie Talbot

My name is: Charlie Talbot

Title: Chef / Manager

Nationality: British

I work at: ACS Hillingdon

Current role: Chef

Last role: Chef

I’ve been with ACS for: 6 years

Why I joined ACS

It is the nature of the profession, but catering hours can be very long and hard. As I love to travel, the school holiday breaks formed a very appealing part of the ACS offer. Having worked enough split shifts and weekends to last a lifetime, ACS offered an unbeatable work/life balance. If someone had told me a few yeas ago “you’ll be working in a school” I would fallen over laughing. Now I know it was the best move to make.

What I most love about working here

Being able to run a large, modern kitchen my way… that is properly but with a dash of good humour. Catering for our annual graduation day remains my biggest and most anticipated single challenge. I jump at the chance of trying new dishes, and my drive to create ever more elaborate and fantastic centrepieces really gets the creativity flowing.

The reason ACS is special

Everybody remembers we are a school and that the students always come first. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff, in fact we all seem to go that extra mile as a matter of course.

My favourite part of living in the UK

Where I live in the county of Wiltshire, we are close to most parts of the south of England, so weekends away are easy. Also, with London only an hour away, we effectively have Europe on our doorstep. What more could you ask for.
