My name is: Asa Haeggblom
Title: English as an Additional Language teacher, Lower School. Native Language HoD
Nationality: Swedish
I work at: ACS Egham
Current role: English as an Additional Language teacher, Lower School. Native Language HoD
I’ve been with ACS for: 9 years |
Why I joined ACS
Like many of our students I am basically a third culture kid, so it is good to feel ‘at home’ in a community that has also experienced life in many different countries. I have always felt more at ease being Swedish outside of Sweden than within. ACS provided me the best possible environment to feel completely international.
What I most love about working here
I am privileged to work with young English as an Additional Language students as they are so enthusiastic and eager to learn. It is a constant joy to be part of their development, and to be trusted by the school’s administration to do the job I love.
The reason ACS is special
I am proud that my school is at the forefront of Native Language education. And there is a constant willingness to move this area still further forward. My suggestions and/or proposals are always considered seriously.
My favourite part of living in the UK
It is not as cold as Sweden, and it has four seasons. I like the fact that England is actually quite a small country geographically, and is well placed to explore mainland Europe. You have countless opportunities to take advantage of cheap travel fares making it easy to vacation, and also easy for friends and family to visit. And you cannot ignore the wonderful cultural opportunities offered by having London on our doorstep – galleries, museums, theatre, historic sites, concert halls etc, etc.
