Many people in the UK prefer to travel by car although most towns offer fairly
good networks of public trains and buses. Whether you need to buy a
car or not will depend on where you want to live in proximity to the school.
Many ACS Hillingdon staff, in particular, do not own a car as the campus is
situated close to affordable housing and many staff are able to walk, bus or
cycle to work.
At ACS Cobham and ACS Egham, our staff utilise good local train and bus services,
with a special shuttle bus service running between the Cobham campus and the local
rail station.
If staff decide they ultimately want the freedom a car can offer, there is
no shortage of inexpensive options advertised in the campus magazines, local
newspapers or on-line. With a large international community living around us,
it is inevitable that people move on and many need to sell their cars quickly
and, therefore, at a good price. The Housing Officer will be able to give you
further advice on this once you have decided where you will be living.
Note: It is not advisable to drive into London. As one of
the largest cities in the world, congestion, particularly at peak times is
high and there is now a daily congestion charge for driving into the city centre.
Trains into London are frequent and the underground is very accessible and
easy to navigate.
