All ACS campuses are situated on the outskirts of central London and all have
excellent road and rail links into the city – in the case of ACS Hillingdon,
two London underground lines as well. Trains take between 25 minutes
from ACS Cobham, to around 45 minutes from ACS Hillingdon and ACS Egham. Once
in London it is a very easy city to get around with a good network of buses
and Underground lines.
Outside of London there are countless stately homes, palaces and gardens,
including historic Hampton Court and Windsor Castle which are local. There
are also a number of theme parks for the kids including Legoland, Chessington
World of Adventures and Thorpe Park.
Train travel in the UK can be expensive, but is comfortable and less stressful
than a long drive. It is possible to get to places as far away as Edinburgh,
the Scottish capital, in only 6 hours.
Brighton, a famous and now very trendy Victorian seaside resort on the south
coast can be reached in under 2 hours.
The Roman town of Bath is only 2 hours from London, as is the Shakespeare’s
birthplace, Stratford on Avon. These, and quite literally hundred more sites,
make for great weekend exploration.
Even continental Europe is just around the corner, with direct Eurostar trains
from London Waterloo to Paris taking only 2 ½ hours.
Cheap flights can be booked with companies such as Ryan air, Easy jet, and
British Airways etc. Or surf the Internet to pick up the best offers from travel
specialists like www.expedia.com. Remember
London is a major airline hub and most European cities are reachable in less
than 2 hours.
For closer to home, check out the local newspaper to find out about sports
and social clubs, theatres and cinemas, amateur dramatic groups, etc.
You will never be short of things to do on your day off.
