Professional Development is highly promoted at ACS International Schools. Over the past six years we have had several renowned educational leaders work with our teachers. These include:
- Howard Gardner (Multiple Intelligences)
- Charlotte Danielson (Teacher Performance)
- Virginia Rojas (EAL)
- Heidi Hayes Jacob (Curriculum Mapping)
- Kathy Short (Inquiry Methods)
- Dinos Arstidou (Approaches to Learning)
- Alan Davies (THRASS)
- Mel Levine (All Kinds of Minds)
ACS also provides an allowance to each teacher to attend conferences and workshops to further the school goals and programmes, achieve the School Development Plan, and/or to enhance their own professional growth. Staff attend IBPYP, IBMYP and IBDiploma workshops throughout the year.
The schools also hold weekly divisional and monthly faculty meetings to discuss professional matters such as assessment, goal setting, special education, EAL and other topics. There is also an opportunity for additional Professional Development through sharing knowledge and experiences at team, faculty and department meetings.
Several of our teachers are also respected IBO and NEASC school inspectors, examiners, assessment moderators and IB faculty trainers.
